Local SEO for Aesthetic Clinics: How Patients Near You Find You
When someone a few streets away searches for a treatment, one of two things happens. They find you, or they find the clinic down the road. Local SEO is what decides which. It is the closest thing to free patients there is, and most clinics barely touch it.
This is the plain version of how it works and what to actually do, without the jargon the agencies hide behind.
What local SEO actually means
It is getting found when people search the way patients really search: a treatment plus a place, or a treatment plus “near me”. Those searches show results in two spots. The map pack at the top, which is the little map with three clinics pinned under it, and the normal blue links below. Local SEO is the work that gets you into both.
The people making these searches are about as ready to book as anyone gets. They are not browsing. They want a treatment, near them, soon.
The pieces that move the needle
- Your Google Business Profile. This is the single biggest factor in whether you show up in the map pack. It is free, and most clinics fill in half of it and forget the rest. It deserves its own attention, which is why I wrote how to rank your clinic on Google Maps.
- A page for each treatment, with your town on it. One thin “Treatments” page ranks for nothing. A real page per treatment, written the way patients describe it and mentioning where you are, competes for every one of those searches.
- Reviews. They feed your ranking and your reputation at once. The whole system for getting more is in how to get more Google reviews for your clinic.
- The same name, address and phone number everywhere. On your site, your profile, any directory you are listed in. Google trusts consistency and gets confused by mismatches.
Treatment and town pages, done properly
This is where most clinic websites fall down. They list their treatments on one page and stop. To a search engine that page is about everything and therefore nothing.
Give each treatment its own page. Use the words patients use, not the clinical names. Say which town and area you serve, naturally, not stuffed in fifty times. Answer the obvious questions someone has before they book. Done across your main treatments, this quietly turns your website into something that competes for dozens of local searches instead of none.
Content that keeps you fresh
A site that never changes looks dormant to Google. A steady trickle of articles answering what local patients actually ask, a guide like this one, keeps the site active and catches the longer, more specific searches that add up over time. It is slow, and it works.
Why the slow build is worth it
Local SEO does not happen overnight. It builds over months and then it keeps paying for years, without you spending on every click the way you do with ads. For a clinic, it is the cheapest, most durable source of patients you will ever have. Start now and it compounds quietly in the background.
One rule while you do it. UK advertising rules do not allow you to name prescription only treatments such as botulinum toxin, or to use before and after photos, in public facing content. Keep your pages compliant and let reviews carry the proof.
Local SEO is one part of the full marketing plan for aesthetic clinics. Get it right and you stop paying for patients who were trying to find you anyway.
